True to its roots as an homage to the Arts and Crafts movement—a philosophy that emphasizes meticulous craftsmanship—The Settlers Inn continues in a great tradition of heartfelt hospitality. From individually appointed guest rooms and suites to a locally focused farm-to-table dining program, each aspect of our hospitality experience is designed to feel carefully crafted and perfectly personal.

The Settlers Inn History

A Storied
Setting

Our authentic Arts and Crafts lodge was conceived and built by the surrounding community in 1927, when the nearby Lake Wallenpaupack was being developed. The historic hotel boasts natural features such as Pennsylvania Bluestone and native Chestnut wood beams, enhanced by traditional Arts and Crafts décor. Bordered by the Lackawaxen river, the hotel sits on six acres of land surrounded by beautiful gardens.

A Labor of Love

In 1980, the Genzlinger family purchased the property, infusing it with the true spirit of the Arts and Crafts movement—a philosophy that emerged in 1860s England in response to the heavy ornamentation of the era. Native chestnut woodbeams, Bradbury & Bradbury hand screened wallpapers, Fulper handcrafted tiles, a Stickley grandfather clock and curated collection of Arts and Crafts pottery and furnishings adorn our historic halls, offering hospitality that extends from the head to the heart to the hand.
