Is it August Already? With so much to do and see in the breathtaking Pocono Mountains summer is flying by as gracefully as the majestic bald eagles that can be spotted along the Wild and Scenic Upper Delaware River near The Settlers Inn.
But there are still plenty of fantastic events at The Inn and its surrounds this August. Come visit and check out what’s happening!
Foodies, wine bibbers and true romantics alike will feel like they’ve arrived in southern France during August’s wine and food pairing on Friday, August 17. Guest Chef Alen Kehoe joins our own Chef Grant Genzlinger and Chef de Cuisine Ben Sutter in the garden for an evening of delightful fare and fine vintages from Provence that are sure to seduce even the most discriminating connoisseurs.
Our Wednesday evening “Food and Fun and All That Jazz” series will include a very special appearance by the Anat Fort Trio on August 15, from 6 to 9 PM. Fort’s debut CD “A Long Story” was released to rave reviews in early 2007.
“Anat Fort is a daring pianist-composer whose inventive way with tunes and time suggests a huge talent in the making,” says Time Out New York of the Israeli-born musician. Fort’s musical influences include Bill Evans, Keith Jarrett, Paul Bley, Elvis Costello, John Coltrane and Egberto Gismonti.
Nate Chinen of The New York Times calls Fort “a prepossessing young pianist with an auspicious new debut.” Don’t miss this one!
The Downtown Hawley Partnership’s First Friday celebration is a smashing success, attracting visitors and residents for a fun evening of art, music and performance. Stop by the quaint Victorian village on August 3, from 6 to 8:30 PM, to enjoy the atmosphere and hospitality.
Back by popular demand, The Settlers Inn will offer jazz on the deck, from 6 to 9 PM, featuring a splendid trio led by house pianist Frank Williams accompanied by drums and bass.
Finish off your evening downtown with cocktails or dinner at The Inn, featuring new menus [http://www.thesettlersinn.com/dining.htm] highlighting quality products like Liberty Gardens Micro Radish Salad, Mountain Dell Farm Fresh Greens and Forks Farm Pasture Raised Chicken.
We’re delighted to report that our area’s local farms are currently producing most of The Inn’s vegetables and greens!
