Spring Newsletter 2006
Spring is in the air once again – the tulips are blooming and The Settlers Inn kitchen staff is bubbling with excitement. Local farmers are harvesting some of the tastiest produce of the year – and Chef Peter’s menus are evolving to make the most of it. When the first batch of ramps (a cross between a shallot, green onion and garlic that grows wild) and fiddlehead ferns come to fruition it signals that the season finally is here. The local purveyors come to our door with unique and fresh ingredients that are just not accessible to the average restaurant. As always, the goal of our rustic country inn is to utilize as much farm-to-table ingredients, organic produce and naturally raised food as possible. Edible flowers and Asian greens, such as Tatsoi, Baby Bok Choy and Mizuna, soon will appear on our menus – as will as pasture-raised chicken from Fork’s and Gordon’s farms and Brook Trout from Blooming Grove. Come visit and dine with us this spring and share in this marvelous bounty.

It’s not too late to invite your mom to a marvelous Mother’s Day meal at the Settlers Inn! Just follow these simple steps:

  1. Check out our Mother’s Day menus below.
  2. Call and make a reservation for either brunch (11:30 am to 2:30 pm) or dinner (3:00 pm to 8:00 pm)
  3. Send mom a special e-postcard from the inn as an invitation. Click here to create.
  4. Show up at the appointed time with mom!

2006 Wine Dinner Schedule
You may have dined with us this winter and missed the familiar face of our wine steward, Claude. He spent the last few months working at a winery in Chile – involved in every aspect of the wine-making process.
