Every year the talented crew at The Settlers Inn turns pumpkin carving into an art form. This year the pumpkins will be on display this coming Saturday, October 29 for our annual storytelling dinner. Feast on traditional American harvest fare – cream of butternut squash soup, spinach salad with roasted pumpkin and pine nuts, pickled and spiced apples, pork chops and plum chutney, roast duck with apple cassis glaze, Cornish game hen with cornbread stuffing, cedar plank salmon, wild rice medley, pumpkin mousse, and devil's food cake. Storytelling and ballads provided by Nelly Gray and Her Darlings, a six-piece group of fiddles, banjoes, guitar, and vocals.

Our official anniversary at The Settlers Inn is November 15. This year we are celebrating 25 wonderful years of serving our guests and patrons at our historic Mission-style lodge. Look for a message from the innkeepers, plus details on anniversary specials and events in next month’s newsletter.

We are still accepting reservations for the December 2 and 4 Victorian Christmas Dinners. December 3 is sold out. The evening begins with a horse and carriage ride, then hors d'oeuvres with mulled wine, sleigh ride champagne punch, or your favorite cocktail. The dinner menu is all based on recipes from 100 years ago. One of the annual highlights of this event is the incredible dessert display (talk about visions of sugarplums!). The inn is finely decorated in Victorian splendor and a choir blends together the sounds of the season. |
